“ It's an amazing atmosphere, high ceilings and a gorgeous dining arrangement. The food is capitol ”
“ Awesome hidden spot! Great selection of beer on draft, bottles, and cans. The food is well thought out, has a unique touch. Looks like fresh bread for the burger buns, great beef, the roasted smashers are really good. Atmosphere would be a cool place to hang out ”
“ We had such a good time at The Bird and The Book!! Such a warm, welcoming place. The food was amazing, atmosphere is PERFECT and the people there are the best. Shoutout to Lisa and Sarah who were so nice and made our visit amazing. I had a chicken Caesar wrap and it was so fresh and yummy! Awesome drink selection as well. ”
“ Love this place! Great food, great atmosphere, and great staff! They do so many unique events and community activities. LGBTQ friendly! ”
“ We came early, so not many people at that time, but they had a large variety of food for us vegan folks to choose from, which I was unfamiliar with as our town has zero options for us. The service was super friendly, the food was extraordinary, based on the jackfruit kimchi melt and the tofu and kimchi grilled chee we had, and the prices were moderate. Will definitely return when in the area. Loved it! ”
“ I’d been to Southland Books & Cafe many times but hadn’t had the chance to visit the adjacent restaurant until the Murvul Punk & Drag Flea Market. This was a FANTASTIC event! Everyone who worked here was wonderfully welcoming and friendly. I had to hold up a written note asking about gf options bc the music was so loud. They don’t have a gf menu but they scrambled to help me figure something out despite the extreme busyness and everything else going on. I ended up getting a delicious wrap without the wrap which was basically a scoop of chicken salad over vegetables with chips. Normally this kind of compromise would be one of those kinda depressing but par for the course deals that happens with food allergies but it was the BEST chicken salad I’ve ever had! Zero disappointment. I don’t usually like chicken salad but this was amazing. I very much appreciated that no one seemed confused or put off by the request even though we were communicating by screaming and note passing. The event itself featured a ton of local vendors, bands, and drag performers. The energy was great! I hope they host more events like this in the future. I will absolutely be there. I’ll need to check the restaurant out sometime when there isn’t a huge concert happening. As with the bookstore, the vibes here were immaculate. I’m sure it will be just as delightful on a quiet evening. ”
“ We used to come here when it was Bluetick Brewery. The changes include a live music stage, no brewery (sorry, had to state the obvious) but the space is generally the same overall. If you are looking for a nondescript, easy going, simple and welcoming social location, this is worth checking out. Food quality is very good. We had a couple of paninis and a burger as well as the hummus appetizer. All were fresh, flavorful and tasty. The music is an added bonus in my mind. Full bar so they serve wine, liquor and beer. Great bottle and can selection as well as draft. A unique setting in Maryville worth checking out. Mike River show was the bomb. ”
“ Very tasty burger and friendly staff. The ciabatta-like burger bun, potatoes and the burger itself were a delicious meal. We were so happy that they have vegan options and the burger even had vegan cheese! Definitely recommend. ”
